About Our Location and Community
Quick Lane Orangeville is located at 670 Riddell Road, Orangeville, ON L9N 5G5 by Caladon East Garafraxa Rd. We serve the Farmington, Starrview Acres, Purple Hill, Garafraxa Woods & The Maples communities.
Orangeville officially became a town until January 1st, 1874. It was named after a local businessman Orange Lawrence in 1863. Although he was born in Connecticut, he was a Captain in the militia during Mackenzie’s Rebellion and settled in the area in 1844. He owned several mills in the area before he passed from suicide on December 15th, 1861.
Orangeville is known for the annual Blues and Jazz Festival, Orangeville Opera House and the Art Walk of Tree Sculptures. The Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival is held annually usually the first weekend in June. It features a car show, beer garden and motorcycle show and shine event. The event attracts a diverse audience of over 30,000 from all over Ontario and beyond. What started as a one-day event put on by 5 volunteers with 7 acts has grown in a multiple award-winning event that stretches several days over 2 main stages and 4 total stages with almost 100 acts performing.
The Orangeville Opera House is located on the second floor of the historic Orangeville Town Hall that underwent a restoration in 1993-1994. It has been the home base of the Theatre Orangeville since 1994. Theatre Orangeville almost exclusively uses works from Canadian playwrights. With a focus on the youth, Theatre Orangeville Youth Academy provides an opportunity for the area youth to experience and participate in the theatre arts. They also have the Creative Partners On Stage program that was created in 2008 which allows educational and performance opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.
The Art Walk of Tree Sculptures is an ever-growing collection of public art. Functioning utility boxes have been turned into colorful displays of original art by local artists. There are over 70 sculptures, murals, and monuments that add to the town’s creative and artistic sector. You can follow along with the online map that gives location and back story of each piece.
